Provision of the website

When you use this website purely for informational purposes, the web server processes technically necessary data so that the pages can be delivered and the security and stability of the service can be ensured. This includes in particular:

  • IP address
  • date and time of the request
  • URL requested
  • amount of data transferred
  • notification of successful retrieval
  • browser type and version
  • operating system
  • referrer URL, where your browser transmits it

The processing serves the technical provision of the website, error analysis, and the prevention and investigation of misuse and security incidents. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR in conjunction with the performance of the public tasks of Technische Universität Ilmenau and, where necessary, Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR.

The recipients of the data are the units of Technische Universität Ilmenau responsible for technical operation and, where applicable, contracted hosting and IT service providers.

IP addresses are deleted after seven days; other log data is deleted no later than thirty days after collection, unless concrete evidence of misuse or a security incident justifies longer retention. These periods follow the practice of the server operator, Technische Universität Ilmenau, as published in its own privacy notice.

According to the current state of this website, no cookies are set, and no analytics or tracking services are used. No external fonts, scripts, or embedded third-party content are loaded unless you click external links. No automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.

If you contact us by email, we process the data you transmit in order to handle and, where appropriate, respond to your enquiry. This concerns in particular your name, email address, and the content of your message.

Please note that transmission by email may be unencrypted and could be read in transit by third parties. For confidential matters, please contact us by post.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR; for enquiries with further legal context, the respective specific legal basis where applicable.

Your data is deleted once the matter has been concluded and no statutory retention obligations or other legitimate grounds for further storage remain.

This website prominently links to content on GitLab.com (wiki, documentation, source code, and the GitLab icon in the footer), operated by GitLab Inc., USA. Following these links transmits data to the United States, where the protection of personal data is not equivalent to that under the GDPR. Other external links point to services of Technische Universität Ilmenau. When you access any such external site, only the privacy notice of the respective operator applies.
